I'm pretty disgusted with humanity right now. Alot of things going on that shouldn't be, that should be issues of the past that we no longer encounter today. I'm by no means oblivious to the evils of man, but I didn't think it would come out with such overwhelming force. The racism that's floating around as of late has just disgusted me and has depressed me a little. So feel free to ignore this journal, but I just wanna explain the things that have happened around the globe involving racism recently.

First, Cheerios. Cereal? Yeah that's right, cereal. Where can the racism exist in a simple cereal commercial you might ask. Well, let me describe the entire commercial to you before revealing it. The commercial goes like this: A little girl walks into the kitchen and asks her mom "Are Cheerios good for your heart?" and the mom replies "Cheerios can help reduce cholesterol and keep your heart healthy." The girl walks away. The next scene we see is the girl's dad waking up from a nap on the couch, a bunch of cheerios on his shirt where his heart would be, the word "love" then comes on screen in the classic black lettering with the yellow background. Sounds cute right? Of course it is. Where's the racism? The mother is white, the dad is black and their child is biracial. They received so many racist comments on their video on YouTube, they had to ask YouTube to disable comments. Instead of bowing to the racism, Cheerios stands beside their commercial and the family portrayed in it

Second, a well-known coffee chain. Which you might ask? No, not Starbucks. This time via Dunkin' Donuts. For those of you who haven't heard, there's a crazy as living hell lady who went to one who thought she was entitled to "double the entire menu". Here's what happened. She apparently went to her local Dunkin' Donuts the night before and they failed to give her a receipt. She comes back the next day and starts cursing up a storm at the employees, including racial slurs and dropping the n-bomb on the employees (not to mention threatening to blow up the store a number of times). Thinking she'd be "smart" (and believe me I use that oh so loosely) and get her, as one YouTuber put it so nicely, "her fifteen minutes of fame for all the wrong reasons", she recorded the entire thing and uploaded it to Facebook. Her entire EIGHT MINUTE LONG RANT of cursing up a storm to the employees with her racist crap. She even (like the flaming idiot she is) showed her face on camera. Is it any surprise that she changed her phone number (since it was on her facebook lol) and either deleted or deactivated her Facebook after this? There was an official statement by her company (yeah that was listed on her Facebook too and oh boy did that get tossed around with angry letters sent to the company wanting her fired) two days ago stating they were going to release an official announcement about her employment soon. We got our answer tonight however, with this statement on their website's blog (note: I edited her last name, only giving the first letter. You wanna know her full name, go look it up):

"We have previously employed Taylor [C.] as a Video spokesperson in the past. But due to her racist viral video rant on two Dunkin' Donuts employees and the large amount of complaint calls and public outcry to our website. We have made an official statement regarding the status of Taylor [C.] with our organization. We will no longer employ her for any future video spokesperson positions. Her behavior was disgusting and foul to say the least, and we do not work with anyone who displays such toxic rhetoric as we have seen Ms. [C.] do on her video.

- Management"

Well thank goodness something came of that. I hope she never gets employed anywhere else ever. She is a very toxic and negative individual. She acted like they owed her the entire world and that she was entitled to everything. Saying she was stuck up was a vast understatement. The better news on that (other than her being FIRED) is that the two employees who were hounded on (again for eight minutes by the crazy woman) were promised "something amazing" by Dunkin' Donuts and funds are being raised for one of the two employees so that he can complete his college degree.

The third involves someone singing the national anthem. No it wasn't another Roseanne incident. I think the worst part of it was the age. The boy was 11. ELEVEN. Not only that, he was part of the vastly popular "America's Got Talent". The young boy was asked to come in and sing the National Anthem because the musician who was supposed to come in and do it had unavoidable traffic delays. And it's not like the boy did a bad job either, he was pretty great. So why all the fuss? Because the young boy was Mexican-American. All the racist rage in the world was unleashed upon the boy's Twitter. Especially the many people saying he's illegal (which he's not, he was born in San Antonio FFS) and how dare he sing "our national anthem". HELLO. He's an American too! He's a citizen! What more does he need to do in order to prove it? Just because his skin color's a little darker? Just because he has a Hispanic last name? Somehow he's un-american and not a citizen because of it? It's his anthem too because he's a citizen in this country! He was born and raised here! How is it not his anthem too?? (In case you want to read some of them, a bunch were chronicled here but I warn you they're kinda hard to read/stomach: publicshaming.tumblr.com/post/… ). I can feel for the boy since I'm Mexican-American myself. It's just sad.

Sorry for the long rant but I just felt the need to rant about the racism going on right now and how much it disgusts, sickens and depresses me to see that this crap is still going on this day in age. Grow up people. Get the hell over yourselves and your idea of some kind of supreme race or ideology based on skin pigment or country of origin or genetics.

End rant.

You would think we'd be all over this by now. But, some people are so stuck in the past (or themselves) that it keeps rearing it's ugly head.

Even our counter racism is still rather racist. I've seen, and worked with, an employee my boss said they where scared to fire because they were worried he would pull the racist card on them, even though it'd be because he didn't do the work. Then you have the people of African decent (no real good way of saying that) who use the N word, but it's okay for them to call each other that, so long as a "white man" doesn't do it. That word should be bad, no matter who says it.

Still, as gross as this is to read about, it's kinda interesting and nice to see it being handled well by the right people. I actually want to see that lady who walked in and ranted at DD to get a job there, for minimum wage, and do all the worst menial jobs that the normal employees are expected to do on a daily basis. And have the two she reamed out as her bosses. Still, her being fired for her off the clock behavior is impressive. She shot herself in the foot once she posted that on the internet, and I'm happy that proper action was taken.
